The Saarland University collects, stores and processes numerous personal data about you during your studies. This serves the legal and proper execution of your studies (application, enrollment and admission, study and examination performance, re-registration, leave of absence, de-registration). This starts with your application and takes place over the period of your studies until graduation and beyond. As part of the application process, the following personal data is collected:
The processing of your personal data takes place in order to fulfil the tasks legally assigned to the UdS in the areas of studies and teaching (application, enrollment and admission, study and examination performance, re-registration, leave of absence, de-registration) in accordance with Art. 6 (1) (e), (2), (3) GDPR in conjunction with § 4 (1) Saarland Data Protection Act in conjunction with § 3 (1) and (13), §§ 56 et seq. Saarland Higher Education Act and the related study, examination and contribution regulations.
The Saarland University is also subject to legal obligations that require the processing and transfer of personal data. In such cases, the legal basis for the processing results from Article 6(1)(c) GDPR in conjunction with the provisions of the Higher Education Statistics Act, the Student Health Insurance Notification Ordinance and other provisions.
The data collected by you will be transmitted to recipients both inside and outside the UdS for the above-mentioned purposes. Such transfers are made exclusively on a legal basis.
Your personal data collected and processed as part of your studies at Saarland University will be stored for as long as they are needed for the purpose for which they were collected or as long as existing legal provisions require storage. Details are regulated in the Student Data Regulation. All data to be deleted will first be offered for transfer to the University Archives before deletion.
The collection and processing of the aforementioned personal data is necessary for the admission, enrollment and conduct of a course of study. If this data cannot be collected, it is not possible to study at Saarland University.
If personal data about you is processed, you are a data subject within the meaning of the GDPR and you have the following rights vis-à-vis Saarland University:
You have the right to request confirmation as to whether the data in question is being processed and to obtain information about this data as well as further information and a copy of the data in accordance with Art. 15 GDPR.
You have accordingly. Art. 16 GDPR the right to request the completion of the data concerning you or the correction of the inaccurate data concerning you.
In accordance with Art. 18 GDPR, you have the right to request that the processing of your data be restricted.
In accordance with Article 17 GDPR, you have the right to request that the data in question be deleted immediately.
Without prejudice to any other administrative or judicial remedy, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular in the Member State of your residence, place of work or place of the alleged infringement, if you consider that the processing of personal data concerning you infringes the GDPR.
